Actually i read somewhere about 60% of the opportunity in companies are filled in by placement agencies.

Job portal may not be successful over a period of time. May be they can act as a platform to get the targeted network.

Personally the hit ratio from a portal profile is not going to be 100%. I am sure job posting might work rather then sourcing profile from job portal. I see most of the industry people keep they profile inactive and keep reading the up to date job posted.Again possibility for the candidate to walk back for the better offer.

To my understanding, most of the network profile gives almost 95% hit ratio. Because it comes through a reference they don't want to spoil the name of the referred person, fearing they might not be referred in future.

Lot of search agencies are operating from various location with one or two famous job portal might not help man power agencies. Its like searching the dead fish in dead sea.

Of course, Search Firms can definitely survive without the Job Boards.
Before the arrival of the Job boards in the last decade or so - major recruitment firms had maintained their own database and made it more stronger by adopting effective search methods.
Headhunting,Networking to name a few. Presently job boards provide us a descriptive active job-seekers only, but the real challenge is in finding the "Right Candidate" who generally is not their in the JOb Boards.

Ofcourse Yes any search firms can definitely survive without job search agencies...

Remember we have a mindpower tool called "HEAD HUNTING" which is more powerful than anyother mode of searching so do "WORD OF MOUTH"...

It does not matter whether you seek job portal's help but it does matter when you search through "Head Hunting"

Cheers!!!

It is 50-50. The reason, as a job seeker we may be have '
contacts of some placement agencies only and job portals
bridge the gap. Moreover, if you are looking out for a job
outside your territory then job portals will come into use.
Both job portals & placement agencies is definitely of
benefit to the job seekers and employers.

Search agencies definitely survive with out job portals. These days only job portals play major role in search agencies. I am happy to inform you, job offers in GSS America Infotech. But most of the recruitment's are going through job portals only.

Very senior level candidates do not take reasons for rejection as constructive feedback. How do we manage such candidates?

search firms will be ever dependent on jobportals simply because jobportals provide cv's across locations. it is cost effective compared to opening up a branch or having a dedicated resource especially when assignments are one-off.

We recruiters basically use job portals not only for active but also passive search. It helps a lot to map a company, to understand their hierarchy, salary brand and culture. It can give you potential database in instant to start with. But job portals are not certainly GODs for search firm. There are more effective techniques to get a right candidate for a right company.

Job portals r very useful for the the initial stages of any recruitment firm to grow..over a period of time once v have created our own data bank(this will take a veryy long time though)then v can move forward.but all said..the job portals r the origin of all other sources(like networking or head hunting).all others r the tributaries from the river(job portals)

Job portals do act as a great source of information and does provide us an easy access to job seekers. But, we can survive without this help. Thanks to the networking sites and innovations in technologies.
